What does a Technical Designer do?
As a Technical Game Designer, you will be a member of the Frostbite Technical Art Team and report to the Technical Art & Design Manager. You will directly contribute to and push the boundaries of the newest game scripting tools and workflows that Frostbite releases to game teams. You'll help make our development process more creator-centric by serving as a link between engineers and game creators.
You Will
- Use your technical and game design expertise to provide a range of game and content scripting solutions with Frostbite's visual scripting tool
- As a Technical Game Designer on the Frostbite team you will collaborate directly with Product and Engineering team members to improve the usability of content workflows and help steer the design of new features.
- As a Technical Game Designer, you will collaborate with other Technical Designers across multiple game teams to understand their production needs, address feature and workflow challenges, and help identify necessary improvements for future development. Your expertise and contributions will directly influence the outcomes of all games using the Frostbite engine.
You Will Need
- 5+ years of experience with visual scripting gameplay systems
- Understand the fundamentals of game design system, world building tools and how visual scripting solutions provide solutions for these toolsets
- Experience with Unity, Unreal or other similar game engines
- Shipped 2 + games
Bonus
- Experience helping others achieve their best through game development tools
- Experience with a diversity of content creation tools within a game engine
- Knowledge of Lua, Python or other scripting languages
- Comfortable engaging and building relationships with multiple teams and individuals globally
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
