A Technical Artist is a bridge between art and technology, working with artists, programmers, and the technical art team. Their main responsibilities can include art production workflows, tools, pipelines, performance, and shader development. As a Technical Artist, you should have a passion for art and be comfortable problem-solving technical challenges in the areas of art, design, mathematics, or computer science.

At Motive in this role, you will work on a game team, developing new technologies in your area of interest (it could be in tool development, procedural workflows, rendering etc.) to improve how we build content for our games.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Tech Art leads and team to design and implement art creation tools and workflows or on shaders and on-screen effects.
  • Collaborate with content creators to understand requirements and challenges.
  • Document work in a clear and concise form.
  • Research and keep up with the latest trends and technical tools for developing content and inspire others through knowledge sharing.


Qualifications:

  • Candidate for a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Some experience working with a game engine (like Unity or Unreal)
  • Knowledge of art packages, such as Maya and Photoshop. (Houdini or Substance Designer/Painter is a bonus).
  • Some scripting/programming experience (in a language like Python).
  • An understanding of the processes and challenges in the creation of art content for games.
